First Day / Chalk on Porch / Air and Water / Girls @ Cape / Courtney @ Cape / Random Pics / P-Town / Courtney & Ball
Sunday, June 16th, 2002 - the first full day of our 2 week vacation at Cape Cod! It's the standard Fairchild Crew (Eric, Amy, Shelby, Hayley, Courtney), plus Baba, Annie, and Kwissy, tearing themselves away from Laguna Beach, Cali to make a special guest appearance here on the east coast.
The houses we are staying in - these are actually about a mile down the beach from where my family used to stay when I was in elementary school (round about 25 years ago...) in North Truro. The house on the left is owned by Jim, a very good frend of Amy's dad, and it's a superb place. Very modern, only a couple years old, with two (count 'em), two digital cable boxes!
![]() The view from the deck of the houses - you can see the Provincetown lighthouse off to the right, and of course the ocean straight away.
![]() Annie and Courtney are doing some snuggling on the deck.
![]() Amy helps the girls get all of their sand gear together. This will be Shelby and Hayley's first time setting foot on a real beach (at least since they were too young to remember, a year ago when we took them to the beach in Cali).

![]() ...and to the right, you can see P-Town and the rest of the northern tip of the Cape.
![]() The girls showed no fear or hesitation about wandering in to the Atlantic Ocean. We are on the bay side, so the water is much calmer than the ocean side, and about 10 degrees warmer (though, at about 60 degrees, it can hardly be considered "warm").
![]() Just like we've always said, Hayley walks on water!
![]() The girlies had a ball picking up rocks, seashells, pointing out seaweed, etc. Their first visit to the beach was a blast! It was great for Amy and I, who both spent tons of time on the beach growing up, to see everything again from a new perspective.
