Beach Shots / Children's Museum / ZooQuarium / Dinner and Dessert

Thursday, June 27th - we were anticipating bad weather (which never came - the entire day was beautiful just like the last couple weeks), so we planned a day out with the kiddies.  The first stop was the Cape Cod Children's Museum in Mashpee, which was actually more like a Gymboree on steriods.  Actually, like a Gymboree packed with educational toys for kids from infant to teen.

Here, Amy is working with the girls on their shapes, putting square, round, etc. puzzle pieces into the proper holes.

Shelby played some with the train set.

The train set was actually a big hit with Hayley, too.  It's very similar to one that they play with in the Farmington Library, where they have their play groups.

Shelby really loved this setup - she played it for about 15 minutes, which is an eternity to a 2.5 year old.  It was a pair of ramps that you could roll a golf ball down - depending on where on the ramp you started it, it would land in one of several holes at the bottom.  I don't think Shelby really got the concept, but she sure loved watching and hearing the golf balls rattle their way down the ramps.

Shelby and Hayley also did some climbing in this jail-looking apparatus - there are actually trap doors between the different floors to allow the kids to work their way up and down.

Hayley and Shelby both loved the chalkboard-wall.

However, we have to figure out a way to explain to them that, while it's okay to write on this wall, our walls are still strictly read-only!

Shelby did some crawling and climbing through some tunnels as well - here she is folded in half to get through a tight spot, then fully unfolded once she got through to the end.
